Why are there only three timelines?

Technically, there are four accessible timelines, because Timeline Zero, which is where you are, is also one.

But, yes, only those four accessible ones, because the word ‘Timeline’ is probably not being used the way you think. This is very complicated and has almost nothing to do with the reality of living here. Just for now, know there are only four, and you’re from one of the other three. (Unless you were born here, but we have no idea why you’d be looking this up if you were.)

There are also some inaccessible ones, both known and rumored. That’s outside the scope of this.
